We booked the fly and drive package with Air Fraser and had the most incredible day. We arrived at the hanger and were greeted with by the lovely lady on reception. She checked us in and gave us all the information we need before we were met and taken to the plan by the friendly pilot. We were among just two other people who were travelling to Fraser to work. I’d never been on a tiny plane before but had so much fun. The views of Fraser and the ocean were spectacular. We soon landed on the beach which was an experience and were greeted by the groundsman who treated us like royalty and showed us to our 4×4. We were given a quick chat of Fraser, a map of the route to take and were soon of on our own. At one point the front underbody shield of the car became loose but we were able to call the guys and they were quick to our rescue and swapped us out into another vehicle. Excellent customer service! The rest of the day was faultless and before we knew it, it was time to head back. We met the guys in the same place they had dropped us off and was able to joy an amazing scenic flight home. We were able to see a turtle, whale and a sting ray from the air!

Fraser Island is incredible and we got the best of both worlds seeing the island by both plane and on the ground exploring ourselves in our first off reading adventure. We didn’t want to be amongst lots of other tourists on a coach so this was the perfect option for us. The team at Air Fraser are amazing to deal with and I’d certainly love to do it again.

    Thanks so much

This was really a great tour!
First we thought to use the boat to Fraser island. Luckily we found this offer with the flights.
Got our safety instructions and started around 7:00 am at the Airport with a small 6 seater (passengers) machine.
Our pilot made a small scenic tour over McKenzie lake, the sand dunes, the beach including interesting information. It was such a nice view. Later we landed on the beach. This experience was unbelievable!
Short instruction about the 4wheel drive and then we started with our tour to Mc Kenzie lake on small sandy tracks. We arrived at a nearly empty lake and it was so nice. Within a short while, more and more people came and we left. Following the sandy tracks to the beach highway. Following the highway to north to the ship wreck.
At around 4:00 pm we departure from the island and flew back to the Sunshine Coast again with a scenic flight and interesting info from the pilot.
All together it was such a great day and amazing experience, difficult to find the words. We are happy, we have chosen this offer. We can fully recommend.

My husband and I decided to fly to Fraser Island for the day from the Sunshine Coast to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had only been to Fraser Island once, and that was on a tour bus and we missed out on taking a flight then.

We were met by our friendly pilot at the Sunshine Coast airport, and departed at approximately 7am. The flight over the Sunshine Coast, up Teerwah beach to Fraser Island was spectacular and took about 35minutes. The pilot gave us some interesting commentary flying over the island and plenty of opportunity for taking some great photos. Landing on Seventy Five Mile Beach was a thrill!

Once we landed, we had a quick safety brief for the 4wd and the suggested itinerary for the day was explained. Our 4wd was a late model Mitsubishi Pajero, which was really comfortable, easy to drive on the sand and had great air-conditioning.

We called in at Eurong bakery to grab a coffee then headed inland to Lake Mackenzie -about a 20minute drive from Eurong resort. We spent about an hour and a half there enjoying the sun and beautiful lake. It is only a very short walk from the car park to the lake. Great spot for a swim.

We then went to Central Station and had a walk around the forest and creek. It has a great boardwalk through the forest with plenty of great photo spots. We spent around 1 hour there.

We then went back to Seventy Five Mile beach and drove north to the Maheno Ship Wreck where we pulled up to have lunch which we brought with us. Great spot to watch the waves, tourists and cars drive past. The Maheno had an interesting history.

We continued to drive north past the pinnacles then turned around to get back to Eli Creek. Eli creek was nice and cool for a refreshing sip, and a very popular spot to visit.

We had to be back at the airstrip on the beach by 3.30pm with a full tank of fuel. We paid $1.98/L for diesel at Eurong, but had only used about $40 for the day.

We got back into the plane and had another leisurely flight back to the Sunshine Coast airport, with more great photo opportunities. We were back by 4.30pm.

We had the most wonderful and enjoyable day, and we were so impressed with Air Fraser and the service they provided. Right from booking through to the end of the day, everyone was so friendly and just wanted to make sure we had a great time. We can’t wait to go again. Thankyou!

    Air Fraser review
    Unforgettable experience
There are so many things to love about this tour, you won’t believe what you can fit into a day. Would recommend this to absolutely everyone as the best 1 day Fraser experience. Key highlights:
    * Flying to and from Fraser – incredible views, landing on the beach and getting on the island way before the crowds. We were at Lake Mackenzie before 0900, sharing the beach with less than a dozen people.
    * 4W driving – we are not expert (or particularly experienced) in 4WD and parts of the inland drive can be challenging, but if you’re a confident driver with good common sense you’ll be fine. Driving on the beach is a bucket list experience and being able to see the island at your own pace makes for a day filled with things you want to do, not following a crowd.
    * The Air Fraser team give you the VIP treatment – from the office, to the pilot, to the ground crew, it was always 1:1 and was the icing on an already great experience.
    A few things we learned:
    * There’s places to grab food on the island, but pack a picnic – you can then design your day around seeing the things at their best (due to tides) rather than where food is located. Just a small insulated bag is fine, as there’s limited space in the aircraft.
    * Buy a cheap small air mattress/ring to take with you – handy for both Lake Mackenzie and floating down Eli Creek. You can pass it on to someone there or leave in the car if you don’t want to take it home with you.
    * We saw Lake Mackenzie, Central Station, the Shipwreck, the Pinnacles and Eli Creek comfortably in the time we had. Spend as much time as you can at Lake Mckenzie.
